Organizational Profile

Centre for Alternative Development (CEFAD) is a community-based organization founded in 2019 and operating in the local communities of Malawi. CEFAD is dedicated to improving the wellbeing of remote and underserved communities through interventions in health, education, agriculture, food security, and community development.

Grounded in a community-driven and partnership-based approach, CEFAD works to expand access to essential services, strengthen local systems, and support sustainable livelihoods. Through innovative and demand-led programming, we empower vulnerable groups especially women, youth, and smallholder farmers to lead in improving their own communities.
